USABILITY

Installation of the tool: The tool is included in Windows 8, therefore the installation has not been tested with regard to usability.
Configuration of the tool: The configuration process is mostly comprehensible. The process contains some inconsistencies and does not always meet users' expectations. Especially the absence of content categories may confuse user.
Usage of the tool: The tool supports a dialogue between children and parents, when a website has been blocked. The alert message cannot be customised, but it is worded with respect to children's capability of understanding. The reporting is well comprehensible.

FUNCTIONALITY

In Windows 8, web restrictions and activity reports as parental control is now included. Windows Family Safety allows the parents to create URL black/white lists but there is no topics related filtering option. It is also possible to restrict apps and on the PC installed games. Time limit settings for browsing are available. It is possible to block or allow online communication.


SECURITY

The tool resisted to the main hacking attempts to by-pass it.
