USABILITY
Installation of the tool: The parental control is part of a security suite that’s why the installation takes some time. The installation process is well comprehensible. The installer does not provide advanced options, except for the choice of language.
Configuration of the tool: The configuration process is comprehensible. The process can be individualized with regard to several filter tasks and the user can influence the amount of information in an adequate way. The configuration progress is easy to learn and context sensitive explanations are generally available.
Usage of the tool: The tool provides no options to react when a website has been blocked, but provide a context sensitive alert message and support the dialogue between parents and children. The reporting is comprehensible.

FUNCTIONALITY
McAfee promise to protect children against inappropriate content of the internet. It is possible to create several user profiles and to customize categories according to default age groups or custom content categories. The parent can indicate specific URLs to be blocked (creation of a black list) or allowed (creation of a white list) by the filter despites the selected categories to be blocked/allowed. Parents can specify time frames for using the internet. Access to Social Network and streaming content can be blocked. A safe search option is available.
SECURITY
The low rate results from the possibility for the user to uninstall the tool without a password.
