USABILITY
Installation of the tool: Mobicip is delivered as an application which is installed nearly automatically. Therefore, the installation process was not tested with regard to usability.
Configuration of the tool: The configuration is generally comprehensible but information about the interaction between the application and the web-based configuration is not highlighted well, so it is sometimes confusing. There are no options to individualize or influence the process. The process contains some inconsistencies and it does not meet the to users' expectations. The overall look and feel is appealing, but could be optimized with regard to the common standard.
Usage of the tool: The tool provides barely any options to react when a web site has been blocked. The alert message is quite adequate taking into account the small device but it is not worded appropriately to children's level of understanding. The basic version offers no reporting function.

FUNCTIONALITY
Mobicip Safe Browser is as it named a browser app for Android and iOS devices. The tool allows the parents to customize the management of different profiles. It is possible to choose among three different default age-based profiles: Elementary, middle, and high school. Many features are only available in the premium version as create URL black/white lists and topics to be filtered. It is possible to block apps. So you can limit the access to social networks, streaming services or Skype. The filtering tool customization interface is accessible online (remote control). Important: The tool does not filter the websites accessed through the Safari browser provided by the iPhone: the access to the Safari browser must be blocked by the embedded parental control.
