USABILITY
Installation of the tool: n/a
Configuration of the tool: The tool requires the installation of two security profiles on the device. The user is guided through this installation during the configuration process and can then continue to set-up the tool according to individual needs. Additionally, a detailed configuration is available via web-browser. This can be a little confusing as the configuration within the app looks very different from the web-based configuration.
Usage of the tool: There is an alert message, but it might be difficult to understand for younger children. The alert message offers the option to ask for unblocking. The reporting is a little more detailed than the reporting in other apps. It can be sorted into three categories: 'most important', 'most recent' and 'oldest information'. It offers the option to look at the usage over several time periods and shows information about the websites the child visited or tried to access.
Usability of the installation process: n/a
Usability of the configuration process: 2.9
Usability of the usage of the product: 1.9
Overall score for usability: 2.6 out of 4 points
FUNCTIONALITY
Several user profiles can be created. Filtering is possible via adding webpages to a black, white or alert list, and via exceptionally elaborate categories, which can either be blocked or allowed and additionally also be monitored. Time limits can be set and apps can either always be blocked or specifically at bedtime.
Dialogue between children and parents is supported by the Family Online Safety Contract for the child. It explains why the device is protected and how to be safe on the internet.
SECURITY
Access to harmful content throught Google translate, and web cache sites.
Uninstalled without asking credentials or pin.
