EFFECTIVENESS

Effectiveness score for users up to 12 year old: 2.5 out of 4 points
Effectiveness score for users 13 years and older: 2.5 out of 4 points

USABILITY

Installation of the tool: The user is guided through the installation by helpful explanations on the webpage and in the installation manager. Each step is shown. A process bar and a timer show the progress of the installation.
Configuration of the tool: There is no configuration assistant, but the configuration process is in general comprehensible and easy to learn. Context-sensitive explanations are missing at some points. There are barely any options to individualise or influence the process. The overall design is functional.
Usage of the tool: There is no appropriate alert message; the tool makes use of error messages instead. Some of the ‘walled garden’ content is no longer available, leading to error messages as well. There is no reporting function.

Usability of the installation process: 2.8
Usability of the configuration process: 2.4
Usability of the usage of the product: 1.2

Overall score for usability: 1.2 out of 4 points

FUNCTIONALITY

The tool is based on a ‘walled garden’ environment. It includes a default white list, restricted access to these websites, the possibility to set up user profiles and assign one of three age groups (‘Pre-School Content’, Elementary School Content’, ‘Middle School Content’) to each user, as well as the possibility to set time limits.

SECURITY

The user can logout easily disabling all filters. If you choose this tool configure correctly your OS disabling the access to other browser and permit only the use of Jump To builtin browser.
Overall score for security: 4 out of 4 points
